I just wanted to comment that I love this pattern. I know exactly what you mean about looking for patterns that just weren't right. I made this square shaped for my kitty. I'm not sure she likes it so stuffed and may have to take out some of the padding. If you make it square shape I recommend stuffing the "walls" first because getting around corners is hard.
